Your dance floor is where some of the most memorable moments of your wedding day will happen — first dances, packed-out celebrations, and late-night memories with your favorite people. Choosing the right size helps keep the party comfortable, fun, and flowing all night long.
Here’s a simple guide to help you pick the perfect dance floor for your wedding.
1. Start With Your Venue Space
Know your layout: Whether you’re hosting your wedding in a backyard, barn, or tent, it’s important to understand where the dance floor will sit in relation to tables, bars, and walkways. A well-placed dance floor keeps guests engaged without feeling crowded.
Planning a tented wedding? We recommend keeping at least one side of your dance floor at 18 feet or smaller. Most wedding tents have center poles spaced 20 feet apart, and this spacing helps ensure poles don’t land in the middle of your dance floor — something you definitely don’t want on your big day.
2. Think About Your Guests
How many will dance? At most weddings, about ⅓ to ½ of guests are on the dance floor at peak moments. This includes everything from your first dance to the all-out party later in the evening.
Your crowd matters: If you’re planning a lively reception with lots of dancing (or a DJ who keeps the floor full), choosing a slightly larger floor will keep everyone comfortable and happy.
3. Choose the Right Size
A helpful guideline: Plan for about 4–5 square feet per dancing guest.
Wedding example:
For a 100-guest wedding, a 15’ × 15’ dance floor (225 square feet) is a perfect fit. It comfortably holds 45–55 dancers, giving everyone room to move while still keeping the dance floor full and energetic.
4. Built for Your Day (and Your Space)
Our dance floors are made from 3’ × 3’ modular panels, which means they can be arranged to fit your venue and tent layout perfectly. If you’re deciding between two sizes, we usually recommend going slightly larger — a full dance floor always feels better than a crowded one.
